Cleaning up communities: pornographic TV, roadhouses and rental housing all targeted in response law

Introducing the Second Reading of the Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs and Other Legislation Amendment (Emergency Response Consolidation Bill 2007, Minister for Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs Mal Brough said in the House of Representtaives on 20 September 2007 the government’s recent legislation included prohibitions on the possession, control and supply in prescribed areas of pornographic material.

Queensland revolution: Santos’ LNG proposal requires 170-220PJ per annum; and Arrow Energy’s LNG Proposal 55PJ per annum

On the 18 July 2007, Santos announced a proposal to construct a 3-4 million tonnes per annum (mmtpa) liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility at Gladstone.

Northern Territory Emergency Response Taskforce, reports start of alcohol and pornography bans for 4 of 73 communities

Mal Brough, speaking to the Second Reading of the Federal Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs and Other Legislation Amendment (Emergency Response Consolidation) Bill 2007 said the “Northern Territory Emergency Response Taskforce is in place, fully staffed and working well under the leadership of Dr Sue Gordon and Major General Dave Chalmers”.
